Having a tv screen in vehicles will lead to road accidents?

Recently, Road Transport Department's (JPJ)  proposed to ban TV monitors in cars. They stated that the move would be taken to help minimize the risk of road accidents in our country. The motorists who fixed TV screens and DVD players in their vehicles would be fined.

Perhaps, they think that the driver would get distracted by such a loud noise while the movie being played on their DVDs. Still there is not enough evidence or statistics provided by JPJ to prove that this move should be taken into such consideration.

The TV screens are actually meant for the passengers at the back seats. It will help to keep the children occupied especially on long journeys. They could enjoy themselves watching movies instead of fighting with each other and make the drivers feel uncomfortable.
